Not my particaular style but it was wicked fun to do!!!
Ok, so first off, I have to explain this one lol.
This is a project for my Graphic Design Class. We spent the entire semester, each student has a specific animal and anything we did this semester had to be with THAT animal only. My animal was of course, the wolf. This assignment was to come up with a conceptual subject with our animal.
As I have an incredibly hard time with conceptuality, there is just too much I could do that I cannot seem to narrow it down to an idea that makes much sense.
My teacher gave us a cool idea on how to reach such conceptual ideas, brainstorming as you will, by putting the name of your animal, in my instance, a wolf, in the middle of a page, then branch off from there, whatever comes to mind.
That was wicked fun as I came up with all kinds of crazy stuff, some funny, some twisted, ie: American Idol Wolf, Timber pack of cigarettes, Wolf bacon, etc, needless to say, that was the best part of the class as far as I am concerned.
Anyway, with regards to this particular piece, I did my brainstorm and came up with Wolf, the movie with Jack Nicholson and Michelle Pfeifer, from there, I went to Jack Nicholson movies, and here in lays my conceptual poster.
Anyway, there are obviously issues with it, perceptionally I think, but, I was more stoked to come up with a conceptual idea as opposed to the technique itself lol.

[link]COnsequently, my teacher, who I strongly feel hates me, did not like it
. He would have rather seen the same model as from the original movie poster.
To me, its MY conceptual poster, so why should it be a replica of the original, and why should I use the same stock images for it? If I did that, then it would not be MY conceptual poster now would it? At least, thats the way I look at it.

I guess the pacification is knowing you won't have to adhere to their wishes forever.
And especially if the teacher happened to be younger. THAT can be hard.
Really, any age, trying to squelch (which to me is what it is to dictate how things are done, in regards to things to do with inspiration...but I do realize it's an art 'class', so....
"This too shall pass" - just tell yourself that. LOL
